Spelunkenturm

Spelunkenturm is a steel tower standing 27 meters tall on Bomberg hill, with an observation platform that overlooks the Weserbergland region. Its open steel framework construction allows clear sightlines in all directions.

The Pyrmonter Spelunken Society funded construction of the tower in 1896 with private money. The building was part of a broader effort to strengthen local infrastructure and community services.

The tower was built by a local society dedicated to supporting schools, fire departments, and social services in the town. This work shaped how the community viewed itself and its responsibilities.

The tower is accessible by several hiking trails, including a longer route of about 5 kilometers with moderate elevation gain. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and check weather conditions, as the observation platform is exposed to the elements.

Following major renovation work, the original observation platform was removed and later reinstalled to preserve the historical structure. This careful restoration process shows the town's commitment to maintaining the landmark.
