The ruins remain accessible through hiking trails from Hilzingen, offering views of other regional castles including the Hohentwiel Fortress.
The castle experienced multiple destructions, with Swiss forces burning it in 1499 and peasants in 1525, before its final demolition during the Thirty Years War.
