Schloss Lüftelberg

Schloss Lüftelberg is a castle in Meckenheim with four round towers, tall hipped roofs, and an ornate portal set into its stone walls, surrounded by a moat. The structure combines medieval foundations with Baroque reworking from the 18th century.

The castle was built in 1280 and gained its present form through extensive renovations in 1730 by court architect Johann Heinrich Roth. He incorporated three original towers into his new design.

The garden room displays extensive grisaille paintings and serves as a ballroom, reflecting the artistic tastes of German nobility during the Baroque period. These spaces tell stories of grand gatherings and the refined preferences of those who lived here.

The castle can be arranged for group visits and also serves as a location for civil wedding ceremonies. Both activities require advance reservations.

The central hall blends elements from the garden room into its interior decoration with wall murals and detailed stuccowork. This decorative approach creates a continuous artistic theme between the spaces.
