Burg Peppenhoven, Medieval castle in Rheinbach, Germany
The brick castle complex stands between Swisttal and Morenhoven, reaching an elevation of 153 meters within the Rhein-Sieg district of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The estate belonged to Frankish King Pippin before being transferred to Prüm Abbey, with Count Wilhelm von Neuenahr obtaining feudal lordship in the 14th century.
The castle represents medieval architectural heritage through its moated design and construction methods, reflecting the regional building traditions of North Rhine-Westphalia.
While the castle remains closed to public access, cyclists can view it from designated paths that form part of the regional cycling network.
In 1672, the castle became part of a dowry for Nicolaus von Werll upon his marriage to Anna Catharina, daughter of Baron Johann Wilhelm von Randerath.
