Glasmuseum Rheinbach, Glass history museum in Rheinbach, Germany.
Glasmuseum Rheinbach displays glass artworks spanning centuries, from Baroque and Biedermeier pieces through Art Nouveau to contemporary studio glass, arranged across three exhibition levels. The collection traces the evolution of glassmaking and glass art through different artistic movements and craftsmanship styles.
After World War II, glass refiners from Sudeten German regions arrived in Rheinbach during 1947, bringing their craft traditions with them. This migration began a new era of glassmaking in the town.
The museum presents North Bohemian glassmaking traditions through interactive stations that document crafting techniques and stories from glass artisans. Visitors can understand how these skills passed down through generations and continue to shape the work of modern makers.
The museum occupies a building that also serves as the city council chamber, making it accessible across several levels. Plan enough time to explore all floors and exhibition areas comfortably.
The building itself blends modern architecture with a Frankish courtyard complex, creating an interesting contrast between contemporary and historical structures. This combination makes the spaces themselves part of what visitors experience.
