Burgruine Malsburg, Medieval castle ruin in Hohenborn, Germany.

The remains of the castle include a rectangular main building with preserved sections of walls and a tower measuring 6.5 meters in diameter.

First mentioned in 1123, the Malsburg castle became a significant stronghold during the Thuringian-Hessian War of Succession in 1260.

The castle served as the ancestral seat of the von der Malsburg family, who were part of the lower nobility and likely descended from the Schartenberg lineage.

Located in the northern part of Habichtswald Nature Park, the castle ruins stand on a forested basalt hill 5.5 kilometers northwest of Zierenberg.

The castle structure contains remnants of an original well system, indicating advanced medieval engineering and water management techniques.
