Burg Rabeneck

Burg Rabeneck is a castle ruin near Dillweißenstein featuring stone walls and structural remains from medieval times. The preserved wall sections show the original layout of the fortress on the hilltop.

The fortress was built around the middle of the 13th century as a defensive structure to control surrounding valleys and trade routes. It gradually lost its strategic importance and was eventually abandoned.

The ruins display construction methods typical of the medieval period in this region. Visitors can still trace how builders adapted their techniques to the hilltop location.

The ruins are accessible from Dillweißenstein by marked hiking trails with informational panels along the way. The hike is steep, so sturdy footwear and plenty of time for the climb are recommended.

From the ruins, one can view three separate valleys, which reveals why this location was chosen strategically. This elevated position allowed residents to spot movement on trade routes long before anyone arrived.
