Burg Hohenhundersingen

Burg Hohenhundersingen is a medieval castle situated on a steep rocky outcrop in the Lauter Valley, consisting of a main rectangular tower with surrounding outer walls. The structure uses natural rock formations and is surrounded by a moat carved directly into the stone.

The castle was built around 1100 and first recorded in 1237 before passing to the Counts of Württemberg in 1352. This transfer marked the beginning of a new phase in the site's governance and use.

The ruins display medieval construction methods that visitors can observe while exploring the masonry and tower walls. These remnants speak to the craftsmanship and building techniques that were employed here centuries ago.

The ruins are reachable via marked hiking trails from Hundersingen in the Lauter Valley and are freely accessible year-round. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes since the path to the ruins and exploring the site involve rough and uneven terrain.
