Bürgerturm, Steel observation tower in Gotha, Germany.
The Bürgerturm rises 34.75 meters high with three viewing platforms at 10, 20, and 30 meters, supported by three steel columns.
The tower opened in 2009, replacing the former Arnoldi Tower from 1830 that deteriorated after World War II and was demolished in 1972.
The name Bürgerturm reflects community involvement as thirteen citizens founded the tower association in 1998 to plan and build this structure.
Visitors can climb 158 steps to access the tower at any time, with each step named after project donors, while a voluntary fee of 50 cents helps maintenance.
From the highest platform, visitors can see the Brocken mountain 90 kilometers away, the Thuringian Forest, and Friedenstein Castle in clear weather conditions.
