Dat ole Huus, Farmhouse museum in Wilsede, Germany

Dat ole Huus is a farmhouse museum in Wilsede displaying a traditional dwelling from Lower Saxony. Inside, household items, tools, and furnishings from the 19th century show how people managed their daily lives in the Lüneburg Heath region.

The farmhouse was built in 1742 and relocated by teacher Bernhard Dageförde from Hanstedt to Wilsede in 1907. This move allowed the creation of the museum to preserve rural heritage from the region.

The house shows how farmers and animals shared living spaces under a single roof in their daily routines. Visitors can observe how work and family life were organized in these connected rooms.

The museum sits in a car-free zone and can only be reached on foot, by bicycle, or via horse-drawn carriages from nearby parking areas. Visitors should plan for walking or cycling time from Niederhaverbeck or Undeloh.

The attached sheep barn holds rotating exhibitions about heath farming practices over time. Parts of the kitchen date to around 1540, making them significantly older than the main house.
