Daumberg

Daumberg is a mountain summit in the Odenwald region of Hesse, reaching 462 meters high. The peak sits surrounded by forested slopes that form part of this larger highland area.

Daumberg formed millions of years ago through volcanic activity that shaped the Odenwald landscape. This geological past continues to define the region's physical characteristics today.

Local farmers maintain Christmas tree plantations across the slopes of Daumberg, continuing a long-standing agricultural tradition in the region.

The summit is accessible via several marked hiking trails, with parking available near the town of Gorxheimtal. Different routes offer varying difficulty levels depending on where you start your walk.

The northern slope becomes a skiing destination in winter and hosts grass skiing competitions in summer. This dual use throughout the year makes it an unusual place where two very different sports take place seasonally.
