Hardberg transmitter

Hardberg transmitter is a 135-meter-tall steel lattice tower built on a mountain in the southern Hesse region. The structure supports antennas that broadcast radio signals across the surrounding landscape.

The original steel pylon was built in 1951 and shaped the area for decades. In 1988, it was completely replaced with the current cable-stayed lattice structure.

The tower has become a recognizable landmark in the region's skyline, part of the daily backdrop for people living in southern Hesse. Radio broadcasts from this location accompany commuters and residents during their morning routines and drives.

The tower sits on a hilltop and is easily visible from the surrounding area. Visitors should note that direct access to the facility is restricted for safety reasons, but the external views remain impressive.

The steel structure was reinforced with guy wires to achieve maximum stability with minimal material use. This design approach shows how engineers in the 1980s created efficient, functional solutions.
