Donnerberg-Kaserne, Military barracks in Eschweiler, Germany.
Donnerberg-Kaserne is a military compound near Eschweiler that houses administrative and training facilities spread across a sizeable campus. Multiple permanent buildings are organized along the grounds at Birkengangstraße, designed to support various operational and educational needs.
The facility began operation after 1946 as Camp Eschweiler under Belgian administration. In 1958, the West German military took over the site and renamed it Lager Donnerberg.
The facility houses the Technical School of the German Army, providing specialized military education in electronic equipment maintenance and artillery operations.
The site connects to Eschweiler city center through regular bus services and is located near the main train station. Visitors should check in advance since not all areas of the military compound are freely accessible.
The barracks opened to female soldiers in spring 2001 following major reconstruction work. Wooden structures from earlier decades had been replaced with new brick and stone buildings by that time.
