Haus Lindenberg

Haus Lindenberg is a protected villa in Kreuzberg with varied height depending on the view: two stories toward Methfesselstraße and three toward the garden side. The facade displays rich architectural ornaments and retains the proportions and details typical of 19th-century residences.

The villa was built in 1874 as a residence for businessman Ernst Lindenberg. It remains the sole surviving original building from the former Wilhelmshöhe villa colony that once stood on this eastern slope of Kreuzberg.

The Lettrétage literary house has hosted readings and theater performances since 2006, turning the spaces into an active cultural venue. Visitors can experience how the villa functions today as a gathering place for art and literary events.

The property sits on a private street between Mehringdamm and Viktoriapark with easy access to public transport. The surrounding area offers many restaurants and cafes nearby for visitors.

The property retains remnants of its original 1870s garden with a grand staircase and mature trees still standing. These green spaces offer a glimpse into how wealthy Berliners designed their homes and outdoor areas during that era.
