Dronketurm, Stone observation tower in Schalkenmehren, Germany.
The Dronketurm rises 10.5 meters high on Mäuseberg plateau, featuring 43 steps that lead to an elevated observation platform at 561 meters altitude.
The stone tower was constructed in 1902 as a memorial to Dr. Adolf Dronke, who established the Eifel Club in 1888 to promote regional exploration.
This cultural heritage monument of Rhineland-Palatinate stands as a central point for regional hiking activities and natural landscape appreciation in the Vulkaneifel region.
Visitors can freely access the tower throughout the year and climb the spiral staircase to reach a viewing platform 166.5 meters above Gemündener Maar.
From the tower platform, observers can view three volcanic maars simultaneously: the Schalkenmehrener, Gemündener, and Weinfelder Maar lakes spread across the landscape.
