Dronketurm

Dronketurm is a stone observation tower standing on the Mauseberg plateau at about 561 meters elevation, with 43 steps leading to a raised viewing platform. The structure spans 10.5 meters in height and features a spiral staircase design for accessible climbing.

The tower was built in 1902 as a memorial to Dr. Adolf Dronke, who founded an organization to promote exploration of the region in 1888. This structure reflects the growing interest in the landscape and outdoor activities during that period.

The tower serves as a landmark where locals and visitors gather during hikes through the volcanic landscape, carrying the name of a 19th-century figure important to regional exploration efforts. It functions today as a meeting point that connects people to the surrounding natural environment.
