Ehrenhof, Architectural ensemble in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The Ehrenhof is an architectural complex in Düsseldorf featuring elongated courtyards surrounded by symmetrical brick buildings with monumental design elements. The ensemble stretches along the Rhine riverbank and connects multiple cultural institutions within a coherent overall design.
The complex was built between 1925 and 1926 by architect Wilhelm Kreis to house the GeSoLei exhibition. After World War II, it was rebuilt and evolved into a major venue for museums and concert performances.
The complex houses both the NRW-Forum for contemporary art and the Museum Kunstpalast, presenting works from different artistic periods. Visitors can move between modern pieces and classical works, seeing how different artistic movements coexist side by side.
The various museums and venues are accessible through multiple entrances, with the main access point at Ehrenhof 2-5. Visitors should allow enough time to walk between the individual buildings and explore the different offerings.
Within the complex stands a former planetarium that was transformed into the Tonhalle, now serving as the main concert hall. This remarkable building demonstrates how historical structures were repurposed for contemporary use.
