Hotel Geiger, Former architectural monument in Bischofswiesen, Germany.

Hotel Geiger was a complex of two large buildings set on sloping terrain, positioned roughly 50 meters from the former Bundesstrasse 20. The buildings provided extensive lodging and amenities for visiting travelers.

Hugo Geiger, a retired customs official, founded the hotel in 1866 by converting a small farmhouse into a lodging house. The property expanded steadily through the following decades.

During the 1800s, the hotel drew visitors from across Germany who came to escape crowded industrial towns and experience mountain life. The clientele represented the growing middle class seeking rest and fresh air in Alpine surroundings.

The location sits on elevated terrain with panoramic views, so visitors should wear sturdy footwear for exploring. The surrounding area is crisscrossed with walking paths that make it easy to wander through the landscape.

After World War II, the property functioned as a recovery center for military personnel, and future US President John F. Kennedy spent time there. This connection links the former hotel to a remarkable chapter in modern history.
