Evenburg is a water castle in Leer surrounded by moats and ponds, featuring neo-Gothic architecture with Dutch design elements and ornate interior ceilings. The grounds include a park designed in the English style with walking paths that lead toward the nearby River Leda.
Freiherr Erhard Reichsfreiherr von Ehrentreuter built the castle between 1642 and 1650, naming it after his wife Eva, a Bohemian baroness. A Baroque bastion was added later in 1703 and remains standing to this day.
