Rathaus Leer, Renaissance town hall in Leer, Germany
The red brick town hall features a prominent square corner tower with large clock faces and an octagonal structure containing a carillon system.
Construction of the town hall occurred between 1889 and 1894, with Karl Henrici winning the architectural competition among 31 participants at a cost of 387,646 Marks.
The entrance hall and ceremonial rooms display Renaissance-style paintings by Robert Heinrich Nachbauer, depicting allegorical figures and grotesque motifs on walls and ceilings.
The second floor contains a large festival hall with wooden vaulted ceilings used for municipal meetings and receptions throughout the year.
From 2015 to 2020, extensive restoration work replaced damaged tuff stone decorations and reinstated the original red color scheme of the building.
