Hansjakob Way II

Hansjakob Way II is a hiking route through the middle Black Forest spanning about 93 kilometers with varied terrain throughout. The path winds through thick forests and across open meadows, marked by white diamond signs featuring a black hat symbol to guide walkers.

The trail was established in 1983 by the Schwarzwaldverein organization as a tribute to Heinrich Hansjakob, a 19th-century writer and pastor from the region. His influence shaped how the route was designed to pass through the places that mattered most in his life and work.

The trail is named after a 19th-century writer who depicted this region in his books and lived here as a pastor. Signboards along the route tell stories about his connection to the Black Forest and the places he knew well.

The route is divided into five segments with the starting point at Haslach im Kinzigtal, allowing visitors to choose individual sections based on their fitness and time. The white markers are easy to follow, but carrying a map and checking weather conditions are smart steps before heading out on these forest paths.

Two observation towers stand at the route's highest point, offering extended views across the Black Forest landscape. These structures make the climb rewarding by revealing the vastness of the surrounding terrain from elevated vantage points.
