Farrenkopf, Mountain summit in Ortenau, Germany

Farrenkopf rises to 789 meters in the Black Forest and can be reached by several marked hiking trails. The routes feature steep sections with views over multiple valleys below.

The Hausach Schwarzwaldverein established a section of the Westweg trail system here in 1903, shaping early hiking infrastructure. This marked an important step in organizing regional outdoor access.

The mountain hut at the summit is named after Professor Wilhelm Hasemann, a Black Forest painter known for his landscape artwork. This naming reflects the area's long connection to artists drawn to the region's natural beauty.

Marked trails from Hausach and Gutach in the Kinzig valley lead to the summit with varying degrees of steepness. Proper hiking boots and breaks are recommended, especially when the ground is wet.

The mountain earned the local nickname 'Badisches Rigi' for its commanding position similar to a famous Swiss peak. On clear days, visitors can see the Kaiserstuhl, Rhine plain, and Vosges mountains from the top.
