Extavium, Science museum for children in Potsdam, Germany.
Extavium is a science museum in Potsdam designed for children and young people, offering more than 80 hands-on experiments. The stations are arranged throughout different rooms where visitors can explore natural phenomena and scientific principles directly.
The museum was founded in 2006 by seven parents from Potsdam who wanted to create a learning space for scientific experimentation. Since its opening, it has become an important educational center for children's science learning in the region.
The place grew from a grassroots idea to help children see how science connects to their everyday lives. School groups and families come here to explore and ask questions together.
The museum is centrally located in Potsdam and easily accessible by public transportation. Plan to spend at least two hours to comfortably experience the various experiments at your own pace.
A highlight for many visitors is a simulation where they can practice docking maneuvers using a model of the International Space Station. This activity is especially popular because it gives a sense of what real astronauts actually do.
