Seebuck

Seebuck is a mountain summit in the Black Forest with an elevation of approximately 1,450 meters and forms part of the prominent ridge system in this mountain landscape. From here, views extend across wide stretches of Black Forest terrain with several mountain lakes visible below.

The summit was outfitted with a monument in the 19th century that commemorates German history. A stone monument with a portrait medallion has shaped the appearance of the mountain peak since then.

The House of Nature at the base offers exhibits about Black Forest ecology and how the region has long lived with its forests. Visitors find information there about the animals and plants that shape this mountain landscape.

The summit is accessible via marked hiking trails from Feldberg-Ort, with shelters and dining facilities along the route. Visitors should bring sturdy footwear since the path climbs uphill and weather at the top can change quickly.

The eastern face drops steeply toward Feldsee lake, where a small stream emerges that becomes the Seebach and later flows into the Wutach river. This hidden origin of a river system is unknown to many hikers who focus only on the elevated views.
