Friedenskirche, Baroque church in Saarbrücken, Germany
The Friedenskirche features a cross-shaped design with a distinctive tower, representing architectural elements from the 18th-century German Protestant church construction.
Built between 1743 and 1751 by architect Friedrich Joachim Stengel, the church received funding through donations from Prince Wilhelm Heinrich and collections from England and Holland.
The building served multiple religious communities over time, including Reformed Protestant, Old Catholic, and Russian Orthodox congregations, each adapting the space to their needs.
Located on Wilhelm-Heinrich-Straße in central Saarbrücken, the church underwent technical modernization and renovations both inside and outside between 2016 and 2017.
The church structure transformed into various functions through centuries, from a Temple of Virtue during French Revolution to a gymnasium before returning to religious service.
