Wiedenfelsen

Wiedenfelsen is a granite rock formation rising on the western slope of the northern Black Forest, composed of multiple rounded boulders spreading across a substantial area. The rock cluster features various levels and crevices that connect with surrounding hiking trails throughout the region.

The area developed into a retreat destination in the 1800s with the opening of a health resort and hotel in the nearby locality. This growth reflected rising interest in mountain tourism and nature, reshaping how the Black Forest region was visited and used.

The distinctive rounded boulders here result from a weathering process that occurs across the Black Forest, creating the characteristic landscape visitors encounter throughout the region. This geological feature gives the formation its shape and connects the site to the wider geology of the area.
