Tillmannsdorfer Sattel, Natural monument and archaeological site in Wülfrath, Germany.
The Tillmannsdorfer Sattel features limestone formations with distinct folds reaching 4 meters above the surrounding ground level near the Wuppertal border.
During the Devonian period, the area contained a shallow sea with reefs, leading to limestone accumulation from calcareous organisms and coral remains.
The geological site serves as an educational resource for studying rock formations, featuring information panels that explain the local geological processes.
The Eulenkopfweg hiking trail provides direct access to the geological formation, with installed lighting making evening visits possible.
The formation displays small-scale wrinkles approximately 15 meters wide, representing a third-order fold that survived natural erosion over millions of years.
