Glacisbrücke Minden

The Glacisbrücke is a pedestrian crossing over the Weser with two tall steel masts supporting a sleek suspension bridge structure. The structure connects the city center with the parking area at Kanzlers Weide on a walkway that serves both pedestrians and cyclists.

The bridge opened in 1995 as a result of engineer Jörg Schlaich's contemporary design concept. With its modern appearance, the structure marked a turning point in Minden's urban development and has shaped the city's image since then.

The bridge has become a symbol of Minden's modern identity since its opening and locals recognize it as a defining landmark. It connects two busy areas of the city, making it part of the daily route for many people.

The bridge is accessible at any time and provides a safe crossing over the Weser with railings on both sides for added security. The level walkway makes it easy to traverse for all users regardless of weather or time of day.

At night, the southern side of the structure glows in blue light, forming part of a continuous lighting system throughout the city. This illumination creates a visually striking presence and turns the bridge into a distinctive element of the night cityscape.
