Heimatmuseum Hüsli, Local museum in Grafenhausen-Rothaus, Germany
Heimatmuseum Hüsli is a two-story house in Grafenhausen-Rothaus displaying traditional Black Forest furniture, tools, watches, embroideries, wood carvings, glass paintings, and ceramics arranged in period room settings. The collection was gathered to show how people once lived in farmhouses across this region.
The house was built in 1912 by Berlin-based concert singer Helene Siegfried-Aichele as a summer residence and later converted into a museum. She collected objects from former Black Forest farmhouses to preserve the region's craft traditions.
The rooms show how people in this region lived and worked generations ago, with handmade furniture and everyday objects collected from Black Forest farmhouses. Each space is arranged like a home from that era, letting visitors step into the daily life of the time.
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, though hours vary by season. Guided tours in multiple languages help visitors understand the objects and their stories.
The building became famous across Germany as the home of Professor Brinkmann in the television series Die Schwarzwaldklinik. This role in the popular 1980s show turned the small museum into a destination for fans of the series.
