Castle Bonndorf

Castle Bonndorf is a palace in Bonndorf im Schwarzwald that combines Renaissance and baroque features across its exterior and interior design. The structure features two distinctive towers and displays a blend of two architectural styles added over several decades.

An original building stood at this location from the 13th century but was destroyed by fire. The current castle was rebuilt between 1592 and 1595, then transformed in appearance between 1723 and 1727.

The mirror hall displays frescoes painted by Franz Josef Spiegler, creating a richly decorated interior space. These artworks reflect the artistic skill of the region during the 18th century.

The castle is located at Schloßstraße 9 and welcomes visitors to explore its rooms and interior spaces. The site sits within the town center, making it straightforward to reach on foot.

The building started as a Renaissance water castle with moats and waterways surrounding the structure. These defensive features from the original design are no longer functional today, but their traces remain visible in the property layout.
