Gutshaus Döbbelin

Gutshaus Döbbelin is a Baroque manor house that sits on an elevated base with a mansard roof and three-axial projections on both the courtyard and garden facades. The structure incorporates the older foundations and cellar levels from a previous building into its design.

Hans Christoph von Bismarck commissioned the manor in 1736, reusing the foundations and cellars of an earlier structure for the new construction. This integration of older elements became part of the Baroque design strategy.

The estate garden features rows of linden, oak, and beech hedges that show how rural manor owners designed their grounds in that era. These planted screens and boundaries still shape the character of the property today.

The manor is located at Döbbeliner Dorfstraße 18 and can only be visited by prior arrangement. Prospective visitors need to contact the property in advance to schedule a time.

The von Bismarck family continues to manage the nearby Gertraudenhospital in Stendal, which they founded centuries ago to shelter poor travelers. This lasting connection between the manor and a charitable hospital is unusual in showing how the estate owners maintained social responsibility across generations.
