Sommerbergbahn

The Sommerbergbahn is a funicular railway in the Black Forest that carries people up from the town into the surrounding mountains. The route climbs through forested terrain and connects the city center with the elevated areas above.

The railway opened in 1908 and has been part of the town's landscape ever since. It has been modernized several times over the decades to meet current safety standards.

The route is known for its steep incline, one of the steepest in the region. This extreme grade makes the journey a distinctive technical experience.
