Harzer Naturistenstieg, Naturist hiking trail in Sangerhausen, Germany
The Harzer Naturistenstieg is a hiking trail that runs for about 18 kilometers through the southeastern Harz Mountains, connecting Dankerode with the Wipper Dam. The route passes through forested terrain in Saxony-Anhalt and is designated as a clothing-optional hiking area.
The trail was established in May 2010 and was among the first official nude hiking paths in Germany. The project started through the efforts of Horst Kehn and the Ludwig family from Dankerode.
The trail reflects a long-standing German tradition of naturism and features special markings that welcome unclothed hikers. Visitors can experience a practice that has been part of this region's outdoor culture for generations.
Detailed topographic maps are available at local bookstores to help with navigation along the route. Hikers should wear sturdy shoes and check weather conditions beforehand, as the terrain can be challenging.
Special warning signs along the path inform visitors clearly about the nature of the area and set clear expectations. These straightforward messages help hikers prepare for their experience.
