Gut Niederhofen, Manor estate in Wellinghofen district, Dortmund, Germany.

Gut Niederhofen is a manor estate in the Wellinghofen district with medieval roots, preserving remarkable buildings from the 18th century. The complex features a gatehouse topped with a baroque dome and two wings built in 1748, designed according to the building traditions of that era.

The property was first recorded in 1242 and initially served as a knight's holding with local authority. In 1479, the Count of Limburg transferred the estate to Cord von der Lage, establishing the family's control over the area.

The estate served as a family seat for centuries and shaped life across the wider area. The buildings still show how such properties functioned as administrative centers and homes for local leaders.

The property now houses youth welfare facilities and can only be viewed from outside, but it serves as a good starting point for hiking. The surrounding area is ideal for exploring the local landscape on marked trails.

The baroque dome crowning the gatehouse is a rare architectural feature for a rural manor in this region and stands out distinctly. It reflects the refinement and ambition the owners wanted to display.
