Hardtberg is a mountain summit in the Taunus range standing at approximately 409 meters high, surrounded by mixed woodlands and natural rock outcrops. The slopes rise gradually from forested valleys to the peak.

The name Hardtberg comes from medieval German language, where 'Hardt' referred to forested hills common in the region. This naming tradition reflects how locals described the wooded landscape throughout the centuries.

The south slope holds an Edelkastanien-Erlebnispfad, a trail explaining the culture of the sweet chestnut groves that cover the mountain. The Regionalpark Rhein-Main placed a seating group there called Sitzkastanien, wooden benches shaped like chestnuts and renewed in 2009. A Waldlehrpfad recalls the former Forstgarten, a nursery where the first firs of the Taunus were raised.

The Hardtbergturm on the summit is reached by 140 steps leading to five platforms, with the viewing platform at 26.6 metres. The tower was inaugurated in June 2022 and replaced an iron tower demolished in 2021. The L 3327 runs along the north and east flanks between Königstein and Mammolshain; the Hardtbergweg leads north to Königstein and north-east to the Opel-Zoo.

From the summit you can survey the western portion of Hesse and see a patchwork of forests and farmland below. This wide panoramic view is difficult to find from most other nearby locations.
