Hochhauscenter am Germaniahafen, Mixed-use development at Germaniahafen, Kiel, Germany.
Hochhauscenter am Germaniahafen is a mixed-use development at Kiel's harbor featuring a 14-story tower alongside lower buildings connected to the complex. The site holds office spaces, roughly 58 residential units, retail shops, and restaurants with waterfront views.
Development began in 1998 as the first project in the Horn redevelopment zone following an agreement between Kiel's city government and investor Gerhard Schmid. This first phase set the foundation for transforming the industrial harbor area into a modern residential and commercial district.
This site replaced the former Germania shipyard, showing how industrial areas can become active neighborhoods where residents, workers, and visitors mix together. The ground floor shops and restaurants create a gathering place along the waterfront for people from across the city.
The area is easy to reach with good connections to the city center and features outdoor seating where you can watch the harbor. Shops and restaurants are spread throughout the complex for convenient access while exploring the waterfront.
The structure features a Bluebox element integrated into its modern facade, serving as a distinctive architectural accent. This design detail gives the harbor complex a visual identity that stands out among other Kiel buildings.
