St. Ignatius, Concrete church in Westend district, Frankfurt, Germany
St. Ignatius Church features a raised structure supported by eight pillars, with dark grey concrete walls contrasting with fine stained glass windows.
Architect Gottfried Böhm designed and constructed this Catholic church between 1963 and 1964, replacing an earlier building damaged during World War II.
The interior space incorporates numerous sculptural elements, including squared holes in the tower and specially crafted door handles designed by Böhm.
The church provides both in-person and virtual Sunday services through Zoom, with regular children's services occurring on first and third Sundays.
The structure's tent-like shape symbolizes people wandering in the desert, while a large triangular window above the altar depicts the Burning Bush.
