Villa Jahr, Cultural heritage monument in Gera, Germany
The Villa Jahr stands on the left bank of the White Elster River in the Heinrichsgrün district of northern Gera.
Built between 1905 and 1907 for industrialist Moritz Rudolf Jahr, the villa was later seized by the state in 1945 and served as residence for Soviet commanders.
The building represents German historicism architecture, designed by Gera architect Rudolf Schmidt with detailed construction plans reflecting early 20th-century architectural standards.
The villa connects to Hofwiesenpark through a pedestrian bridge called Textimasteg, allowing visitors to explore both the building and surrounding gardens.
The surrounding park features an English landscape garden design that served as an exhibition space for grave design during the 2007 Federal Garden Show.
