Sender Koblenz, Radio transmission station in Dieblich-Naßheck, Germany.
Sender Koblenz is a radio transmission facility located near Dieblich-Naßheck in southwestern Rhineland-Palatinate. The installation features a 280-meter steel lattice mast designed to broadcast signals across a wide territory.
The current tower was built in 1964, replacing an earlier facility that operated in Koblenz's Lützel district from 1935 to 1974. This relocation allowed for improved broadcast coverage across the region.
The station plays an essential role in broadcasting programs from Südwestrundfunk, delivering media content throughout the Rhineland-Palatinate region.
The station is located about 12 kilometers southwest of Koblenz near the Bundesautobahn 61 motorway. The remote location means visitors need a car to reach the site, and the facility itself is not open to the public.
During foundation reinforcement work in 1990, construction crews discovered a Celtic burial site dating to around 500 BCE beneath the facility. This finding reveals that the area held importance long before the modern broadcasting infrastructure was built.
