Kloster Ohrbeck, Franciscan monastery in Holzhausen, Germany
The monastery complex features a circular church crowned by a dome, designed by architect Johannes Nellesen from Münster in a neobaroque style.
In 1917, the Prussian government authorized the establishment of the monastery on a 4-hectare forest area, with the first Franciscan members arriving in 1918.
The monastery houses the adult education center Haus Ohrbeck, recognized as a home-volksschule by Lower Saxony since 1974 for cultural and social education.
The monastery exterior is open for visits throughout the day, while guided tours of the church and education facilities require advance registration.
The altar painting by Hermann Gottfried depicts a crucified figure and spans the entire rear wall of the church interior.
