City Church Konkordien Mannheim, Baroque church in Mannheim, Germany.
City Church Konkordien is a baroque structure made of sandstone that rises approximately 87 meters and features a neo-baroque tower that shapes the Mannheim skyline. The building sits in the city center and continues to serve as a place of worship for regular services.
Construction of the church began in 1706 and was completed in 1717, but a fire in 1795 during wartime caused severe damage. The rebuilding that followed shaped the structure as it appears today.
The church hosts the Vesperkirche, a winter program that has offered meals and community support to people in need since 1998.
The church is located centrally in Mannheim and opens for visitors throughout the week, with regular services taking place. It helps to check opening hours in advance to plan your visit during an appropriate time.
The organ currently in place was installed between 1952 and 1959 and represents the fourth instrument to occupy the space, containing 51 registers. This instrument continues to define the sound of services and makes the church an important center for church music in the region.
