St. Moritz

St. Moritz is a late-Gothic hall church in Halle (Saale) with stone sculptures and pointed arch windows throughout. The building rises approximately 22 meters and shows typical Gothic forms in both its exterior and interior design.

Construction began in 1388 under architect Conrad von Einbeck on the site of an earlier chapel. Work continued until 1557, with the building serving different religious functions over time.

The church displays Gothic features with stone carvings and pointed architectural elements that define its character. Upon entering, the craftsmanship of the details immediately stands out, showing the work of generations of artisans.

The building is centrally located in Halle and easily reached on foot. Visitors should check opening times beforehand, as these can vary depending on the season.

A Renaissance pulpit from 1592 created by master craftsman Zacharias Bogenkrantz displays fine workmanship from that era. The 1925 organ adds to the interior with its acoustic presence and visual weight.
