Insel Pulitz

The Pulitz Nature Reserve spans 218 hectares within the Small Jasmunder Bodden, encompassing a peninsula and shallow water areas of Stedar Bay.

Established as a bird sanctuary in 1937, the area experienced changes in protection status during the 1950s before expanding its conservation scope in 1964.

The German Federal Foundation for Environment manages this natural heritage site, preserving its old-growth forests and shorelines for future generations.

Visitors can access the reserve through a field path from Stedar, with entry permitted only between July 16 and January 14 of the following year.

The reserve contains the only kettle bog on Rügen island, featuring specific vegetation such as cotton grass and bulrushes in its southern section.
