Ragöser Damm, Architectural heritage causeway in Brandenburg, Germany
The Ragöser Damm spans 800 meters across the landscape, featuring a concrete inflow structure with a mouth profile measuring 4.20 meters wide and 4.30 meters high.
Between 1907 and 1911, engineers constructed this canal dam using one million cubic meters of soil to manage the elevation difference in the Ragöse valley.
The dam embodies regional engineering excellence through its integration into the Oder-Havel Canal system, reflecting Brandenburg's industrial development in water management.
Recent reinforcement work in 1997-1998 included the installation of 2,473 sheet piles and additional drainage facilities to ensure structural stability and water control.
Standing at 28.6 meters high, this structure holds the distinction of being the world's highest canal dam, incorporating a 176.90-meter-long inflow system.
