Schloss Bredebeck, Manor house in Lohheide, Germany.
Schloss Bredebeck is a white manor house in Lohheide, Lower Saxony, with a central main building and two shorter side wings. It sits within a military training area between the former villages of Hörsten and Hohne.
The manor was built between 1901 and 1902 by a farmer named Hellberg as a private home. After 1936, it was absorbed into the Bergen-Hohne military training area and its use changed completely.
For many decades, this manor served as a gathering place where British officers spent their leisure time and conducted official functions. The house hosted visits from members of the British Royal Family, which gave the estate particular significance during its time as a military institution.
The property is on active military grounds and is not open to the public without prior permission from the relevant authorities. It is worth checking in advance whether access is possible, as conditions can change.
The entrance hall inside the main building is decorated with stucco work, and the Great Hall still has its original marble stoves from the early years of the house. A landscaped garden behind the building features a rectangular water basin with a fountain and several stone staircases.
