Schloss Bredebeck, Manor house in Lohheide, Germany.
Schloss Bredebeck is a white manor house in Lohheide with a central main building and two shorter side wings, featuring an entrance hall decorated with elaborate stucco work. The estate is located within military grounds in Lower Saxony between the former villages of Hörsten and Hohne.
The manor was constructed between 1901 and 1902 by a farmer named Hellberg as a private residence. After 1936, the property was incorporated into the Bergen-Hohne military training area and underwent a significant change in its purpose.
For many decades, this manor served as a gathering place where British officers spent their leisure time and conducted official functions. The house hosted visits from members of the British Royal Family, which gave the estate particular significance during its time as a military institution.
The property sits on military grounds and is not freely accessible to the public; visits require permission from the relevant authorities. It is advisable to check in advance whether and when visits are permitted, as the site remains in active military use.
Beyond the main building, the grounds feature a landscaped garden with a rectangular water basin, fountain installation, and several stone staircases. The Great Hall inside retains marble stoves that preserve a detail from the property's earlier era.
