Schloss Brincke, Medieval water castle in Borgholzhausen, Germany.
Schloss Brincke is a medieval water castle in Borgholzhausen with a main house built on wooden piles and protected by a double moat. The complex includes two gatehouses and agricultural buildings that once supported the daily life and economy of the noble family.
First recorded in 1351, the castle took on its current form in 1674 when the von Kerssenbrock family rebuilt the main structure. Their renovations created the layout and appearance that defines this place today.
The chapel built in 1898 shows the religious values of the noble families who made this place their home. You can still see how their faith shaped the spaces and decorations around the castle.
Group visits can be arranged by telephone to explore the grounds and museum. The museum displays centuries of family history, so plan enough time to see everything at a comfortable pace.
Next to the castle stands the Brinker Mühle, a 19th century mill building that still has its original grinding mechanisms. Today it works as an artist studio, offering a different kind of story than the noble family history of the castle.
