Solinger Vogel- und Tierpark, Zoo at Ohligser Heide Nature Reserve border, Solingen, Germany
Solinger Bird and Animal Park is a zoological facility covering about 1.5 hectares that houses around 300 animals from about 80 species. The animals live in naturalistic enclosures and specialized habitats designed to meet their needs.
The facility was founded in 1927 as Ohligser Bird Park and developed over decades into a complete zoological institution. Its location near Ohligser Heath allowed the park to grow naturally alongside the surrounding landscape.
The park serves as a place where visitors observe both local and exotic animals in settings that mimic their natural environments. Regular feeding times and information boards help people learn about the animals and their characteristics.
The park operates at different times throughout the year, opening from 9:00 in summer until 18:00 and from 9:00 until 16:00 in winter. Visitors can bring their leashed dogs and explore the grounds easily on foot.
The park allows visitors to feed various animals such as zebus, llamas, and goats by obtaining food from dispensers throughout the grounds. This direct interaction with the creatures creates a memorable experience beyond typical zoo visits.
