Stollwerck-Mausoleum, Private mausoleum in Feldkirchen-Westerham, Germany.
Stollwerck-Mausoleum is a white marble structure that combines neoclassical forms with Persian motifs and late Art Nouveau elements. Inside, a chapel with an Ernst Seifert organ creates the main spiritual space.
Carl Stollwerck, son of a Cologne chocolate manufacturer, commissioned the mausoleum in 1927 as a burial place for his adopted daughter Carlita. The choice to build a private family crypt reflected the wealth and ambitions of the industrial Stollwerck dynasty.
The mausoleum serves the local community as a place for religious observances and family occasions. People gather here for worship, baptisms, and weddings, making it both a private burial site and a shared spiritual space.
The site is located in a rural setting and appears private from the outside. Visitors should know the building is mainly open during religious services and special occasions rather than for general daily access.
Inside the mausoleum stands a bronze statue of John the Baptist sculpted by Josef Engelhart, positioned near the altar with lights. This artistic piece transforms the burial chamber into a gallery space as much as a memorial.
