Südpark, Public park in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Südpark is a large public green space in Düsseldorf divided into three distinct sections offering lakes, paths, and gardens. The space is carefully laid out with multiple water features and planted areas distributed throughout.
Development started in 1893 under mayor Ernst Lindemann, with the Volksgarten section completed in 1895. This first area was created to give nearby residents a place for recreation.
The park features themed gardens and sculptures by international artists that shape its character. A public farm lets visitors observe animals up close and learn about their care.
Multiple playgrounds, water play areas, and a circus rope structure offer recreational options scattered throughout the grounds. Visitors can find different activities suited to various ages and interests across the space.
A flood protection dike from 1573 now serves as a viewing platform and houses a panoramic restaurant. From this historic structure, visitors can look out over the surrounding biotopes.
