Theologicum Tübingen, University theological building in Tübingen, Germany.
The Theologicum is a theological education building at the University of Tübingen with two connected sections on Liebermeisterstrasse. The older classical section and the modern extension contain classrooms, offices, and a large library built in 1989 that provides resources for students and researchers.
The building was originally constructed in 1879 as a medical clinic and served this purpose for many decades. After the medical faculty relocated in 1961, it was converted and has since housed the Protestant and Catholic theological faculties.
The building serves as a meeting point for theology students from different Christian traditions who study and discuss together in shared spaces. Its layout reflects this ecumenical orientation and creates an environment for dialogue across theological perspectives.
The building is centrally located in the university district and easily accessible on foot, with adequate parking in the immediate area. Visitors should note that it is an active teaching facility and some areas are only accessible during regular operating hours.
The building preserves its classical 19th-century exterior while its interior spaces are fully modernized and equipped with contemporary teaching technology. This blend of historical facade and current educational environment makes it an interesting example of university architecture in Tübingen.
