WildtierPark Edersee

WildtierPark Edersee is located within Nationalpark Kellerwald-Edersee and displays around 250 animals from about 21 species in natural enclosures. The grounds spread across a large forest area with beech woods, offering visitors open views into how these animals live.

The park opened in 1970 and started with just 14 animals, including fallow deer, wild boars, and mouflon. Over the decades, the collection grew steadily and evolved into an established facility with diverse species.

The park displays animals in habitats that mirror their natural environments, helping visitors understand how these species live in the wild. Flight demonstrations with birds of prey show directly how falcons and owls hunt and behave in nature.

A 2.5-kilometer path leads visitors through the grounds and is accessible for wheelchairs. Free electric scooters are available at BuchenHaus for people with mobility difficulties to explore the area comfortably.

The park houses wolves, owls, and deer in specialized areas that mimic their natural forest environment, letting visitors observe these shy animals up close and safely. This replication of European beech forests creates a realistic picture of where these species are found in the wild.
